Restoration

Restoration

Restoration can take place in many different ways.

It could be an old building, a street, a relationship, a life, a home, a city and so on…

But today I would like to turn our attention to Psalm 51:10 – 12 where David had gone through another hard time and realized that restoration can come only through the renewal of our minds and hearts. David cries out to the God Almighty and repents. One translation reads that he cried out for mercy and said, “Lord, cast me not away from your presence, I, God…and renew a right spirit within me. Or in the New Living Translation, “God, don’t keep looking for my sins. Remove the stain of my guilt. Create in me a clean heart, O God, renew a loyal spirit within me. Do not banish me from your presence and don’t take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and make me willing to obey you.” (NLT)

First one should note that perfect restoration comes only from the God Almighty. He is the one which created us and knows us in depth. There is nothing hidden. Everything is transparent to him. God is looking into our heart which is necessary for all relationships.

Our most important relationship is the one we have with Jesus Christ, Our Savior.  “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12)

So, you might wonder now what salvation has to do with the topic of restoration. To be restored we have to come into a condition of readiness to be restored.  Whatever kind of restoration you need or desire in your spiritual life, God can do it.  It will happen when the awareness of the heartfelt forgiveness of our sins and mistakes have been acknowledged and dealt with.  No matter what it is, by asking God to forgive us in a matter which we are not even aware of that we failed, He will deliver and show us what has to be done next.

Whether we have to forgive someone, or we have to give up our right for something, or to give up a demand for an apology, or come to the point that God knows better what is good for us, or that it was God which let it happen. Or deal with our anger that God didn’t intervene in our case and situation. Jesus is in charge of everything, there are no accidents but there is a reason for this season. That is truly hard to understand with the world’s circumstances and condition we live in right now.

Just to underline these thoughts and this biblical truth I am reminded to look to the cross and a drawing of the praying hands of Albrecht Dürer.

The faster we come to this point in our life not only in difficult times that we say, “Yes, Lord your will be done in my life.” the better it is. Even if we don’t like it what God is doing in our life, with submission to him as an expression of trust we will receive restoration and honor God in the highest way.

As God restores us inwardly, it will manifest itself outwardly in harmony.

God wants to restore us so we will be ready for the heavenly kingdom. Everything which happens to us is a preparation for God’s purpose for us to become the person we need to be.

The most beautiful people are those who have known defeat, known suffering, known struggle, known loss, and yet have found their way out of depths.

These persons have an appreciation, a sensitivity, and an understanding of life that fills them with compassion, gentleness, and a deep loving concern. Beautiful people do not just happen.

I want to encourage us especially with Romans 8:15

The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.”
