If God is for Us

If God is for Us

Romans 8:31
What shall we say, then, about this? If God is for us, who will be against us?

Paul in this chapter of Romans, wants to confirm God’s plan of salvation for humankind, something that ties together past and future, something that therefore has always existed and will never cease to exist.

Paul asks 7 questions in the inner chapter to which he obviously already provides answers, with the purpose of affirming the truth, which is that the eternal salvation of the believer is completely safe in the hands of our God.

The 7 questions Paul asks are:
1. What then shall we say concerning these things?
2. If God is for Us, who will be against Us?
3. Will He not also give us all things through Him?
4. Who will accuse God’s elect?
5. Who will condemn them?
6. Who will separate us from the love of Christ?
7. Will it be tribulation, anguish, persecution, hunger, nakedness, danger, the sword?

These sentences are grammatically called questions only because they end with a question mark, but they are meant to be exclamations to highlight the solid foundation on which our faith is built. We do not have a belief based on something relative or with an uncertain foundation, but these questions are meant to emphasize how much we really need to sleep soundly because God loves us all-around, protects us, defends us, justifies us, leads us to victory, provides for us, and what can we say then about these things but to shout out loud ALLELUIA and be open-mouthed about the wonderful things God gives us?

If God is for us, who will be against us?

Focusing on this statement, We could apply it to millions of examples in the everyday life of the believer. If we repeated to ourselves every time we find an obstacle in what we want to do, or a problem comes to us that we don’t know how to solve, “IF GOD IS WITH ME, WHO CAN BE AGAINST ME?” instantly we would find comfort but most of all strength and faith to react rather than let this thing bring us down.

We are human, when a problem comes, there and then, there is the human reaction in hearing a problem that concerns us, but the time to take the blow, and the Christian must take the field and fight the adversary not with special weapons but with the faith of one who can affirm with absolute certainty that FOR SURE HE WILL HAVE THE VICTORY.

PSALM 20: 7
Some trust in chariots and horses, but we will always remember the name of the LORD, our GOD.

I SAMUEL 17:45
David said to the Philistine, “You come to me with sword, spear and javelin, but I come to you in the name of the LORD of Armies, the GOD of the hosts of Israel, whom you have insulted. And then the phrase that confirms the absolute certainty in knowing that God gives victory for certain: “This very day the LORD will deliver you into my hands.”

David said this phrase because he knew that he would win; Goliath was a ten-foot-tall giant probably, but he was not afraid, he did not compare himself to him physically, or in strength…he only knew, and that was enough for him, that behind him was THE LION, God was with him…was there anyone who could have beaten him? NO Faith is certainty of things hoped for, and let us remember that actually the Bible when it speaks of hope, from the translation from the Greek, is actually speaking of CERTAINTY When we state that “If God is for us, who will be against us,” in my opinion we don’t really realize the power of these words. It means that really nothing and no one can come against you and the work you have started in Jesus’ name. When we have it in our heart to do something, to start a new work in ministry, to make a particular choice in our daily life, so we speak in both the material and the spiritual, if this thing is in God’s will, you for sure will succeed! There is no better tool in overcoming evil than relying totally on God!It will bother the devil immensely that you do not panic, do not get caught up in fear and insecurity but literally put yourself in the hands of God, your creator, lord, father and refuge. We live in dark times, times that surely there have been in the past too only, through the word we know that everything is going to get worse and will get worse and worse, but for those who make the Lord a refuge and a hope know that no one will be able to condemn them because to defend and protect them there will be the lawyer par excellence who you have not lost a case in his life, he will win for you too and you will be able to testify of His immense love to all people.

God bless you
