His Word

Hello, my name is Chris, greetings from Luxembourg.

What an unusual year 2020 this is. At the start of the lockdown I thought this was an opportunity to do all those things that I never seem to get round to doing. As well as all the practical household things I thought that this was an ideal time to really spend time studying God’s word in detail. Despite having given my life to the Lord when I was about seven years old I have found myself surprised and delighted by constant new insights into the word of God. As a lady in our church who is a new Christian says ‘it blows my mind’.

I am currently looking at the book of Judges, rather a sombre book, lightened by Gideon, Deborah and Samson’s stories. When looked at in detail the book is enlightening and there is so much to learn from Israel’s mistakes! Through all this time the constant message I have been getting while studying different books is to know the Scriptures not just verses or odd bits but the whole of the book and where it’s place in the Bible it is.

Psalm 119 maybe the longest Psalm but it gives us so much insight into knowing what Gods word gives and how much we benefit from knowing it deep in our inner core. It is really a love letter from God to us and from us to Him. So as you read this I want to encourage you to do a number of things

  • Seek and search God’s word in depth, it will help you to have a strong walk in Him.
  • Learn God’s word and His plan for your life.
  • Treasure God’s word
  • Declare God’s word
  • Rejoice in the Word
  • Meditate on the Word
  • Delight in the word
  • Keep God’s word before you
  • Live the word of God
  • Understand the word

I also want to encourage you to take notes, buy yourself a notebook, write down any scriptures and words that cause your heart to jump for joy. Then you can look back and check the scriptures and delight in the encouragement that you have.

Psalm 119:105
Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.
