God’s Faithfulness!

God’s Faithfulness!

As I was getting ready to begin this devotional my mind automatically went to Proverbs 3:5,6 This is my go-to verses that I have stood on for over 40+years of ministry.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart,And lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct your paths.”(NKJV).

Looking back over the last three plus years I have seen God’s hand move in ways that would blow your mind. Let me share a couple of those moments with you.

While we were struggling with Covid and all the shutdowns, we(Chauncey Church of God in the cornfields of Illinois USA) took a big, I mean a big leap of faith.

We decided to increase our giving to two world missions projects. Our finances were tight but I/we felt challenged to do what the word says and give. We support Casa Shalom and Kathy’s kids in Kenya.

We began to see God’s faithfulness from the start. Not only were we able to continue our giving but God began to increase. I like that phrase “BUT GOD!” I like what Deuteronomy 7:9 says “Know therefore that the Lord your God, HE IS GOD,the faithful God which keeps the covenant and mercy with them that Love Him and keep His commandments to a thousand generations.”(NKJV).
I have learned that when you release what’s in your hand, He releases what’s in His.

Let me fast forward to where we are today. We went through a very tough time, we thought we were going to have to cut back on sending to our missions program. “BUT GOD!” I told my Church clerk, Karalynn Harvey to go head and write the checks, then we would trust God.

What happened next was a “GOD MOMENT!”
For no sooner had I signed those checks and gave them back to her something miraculous happened.

When we received the tithe and offering that morning it was five times greater that what normally came in. Don’t tell me God can’t, I will personally show you that he can. Let me tell you more about “My God’s” faithfulness.

A few months back the enemy thought he was going to attack me physically. I was driving down the road in a semi/trailer with over a thousand bushels of beans. I live in a rural area of farmers. I won’t go into great detail other than I suffered a mini-stroke. God literally had to take the steering wheel and get me pulled over to safety. “BUT GOD!”

For about eight weeks I dealt with double vision. We are presently pastoring two churches. Both my wife, Kristal and I were going through a difficult time. I kept preaching and she kept working and helping me. I have shared this to let you know what my God did.

Proverbs 3:5,6 became more real than ever before. “But God!” On a Thursday night church service, Bishop David Hindman, one of our faithful ministers was preaching. During the service I felt God’s presence cover me. I knew I had been healed!

God said to prove Him so I did. I immediately removed the patch I had been wearing, I got into my truck and began driving. My vision had been totally restored.

God also has touched my Kristal. What the enemy meant for harm. “BUT GOD!” Let me close by saying that our God is and will always be, faithful to those who trust Him.

I love this chorus to a song my sister in law Sherry sings.
“All my life You have been faithful. All my life You have been so, so good. With every breath that I am able. I will sing of the goodness of God. “
I pray what I have shared will encourage you and help you to continue to hold on to his hand. He is a Faithful loving God.

Side note… It is hard to hold back the tears, when I think about God’s faithfulness to me and my family.
We love you and are praying for you. Dwayne and Kristal Sovdi.
