19 Nov Identity
Hello to all readers. I have the honor to share with you some of my thoughts. I give thanks to God and my leaders for allowing me to tell you this today: to define your identity is to know your goals. A painter’s goal is not to produce milk, nor is a musician’s goal to make a high-quality meal. Your identity will determine your goals. The vision will draw the goal and identify the missions assigned to you for the rest of your life. Moreover, a properly defined mission is one half-way done.
The fact that you are aware of your change of status will define what you will or will not have to do. For example, if your lease agreement of an apartment runs out, you will not accept to pay the rent after your departure since you will not be a tenant anymore. All the same, when you know that your identity is defined in Christ through the Holy Spirit you will not feel affected by this world’s requests since you are not a tenant of this world. The Kingdom in which you now reside is Christ’s Kingdom. Therefore, you are now governed by His laws, you are not defined by the laws of sin and death but by those of grace and eternal life.
Often, we do not realize this truth or tend to forget it. For instance, envy may visit you and make you go back to the apartment, make you clean it even though it is not yours to clean. You may have forgotten that envy is not in your lease. The Lord teaches me not to be conformed to this world but to be transformed by the renewing of my mind. Our bad choices are operated by bad motives such as our famous “for once”. This “once” is more destructive than thousands of others because it opens the gate to all the other times. And even if it was the only time, it sows a bad seed that must be taken out immediately before it produces any bad fruits.
Human laws tell you that your last name is usually your parents’ or your other relatives’, that you come from this place on the world’s map, that you have a certain character and certain attitudes (introvert, extravert, etc.), whereas spiritual laws tell you that you are a child of God. Thus when you will answer the question “who am I?”, you must look at who made you. That is why in Galatians 2: 20 it is said “I no longer live, but Christ lives in me”. If I know the identity of my Father then I know my own because I am like Him.
What defines you? If success does, because “we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us” (Romans 8:37), you will not approach trials the same as you did before and failure will become a step and not a sentence. It is why the Bible says “…all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose” (Romans 8: 28). If a life of excellence defines you and if praying holds an essential place in your life then you will make the choice to have a prayer devoted life and you will not let yourself be discouraged because you know who you are and what you are called to do. You are called to be a living testimony of Christ. Your identity will define the excellence of tasks you are called to do. Do not let your life be off-topic. Look up to Christ to know who you are and why you are here. You do not have to pay the price of this world since He already did. You are set free of all issues and external solicitations. Smile, you are the Lord’s Princess!
