15 Apr Overcoming The Impossible: Devotional #1
When I think of overcoming the impossible through Christ I can’t help but begin with the foundation. The grace, the wisdom, the strength all comes from the foundation and access we have to the Secret Place. The only way to overcome the impossible in one’s life is to have an intimate relationship with God. It’s sad to say, that there are many that neglect this wonderful place called the “Secret Place”. The place where we fellowship with God.
1 Jn 1:1-4 John was urging us to have fellowship with the Father and His Son so our JOY may be full. He was telling us of his fellowship with Him and exhorting us to have fellowship with Him as well. In His presence is fulness of JOY and the JOY of the Lord is our strength.
This was John the Beloved writing this. The One whom Jesus loved and he even referred to Himself as that. The One who leaned upon Jesus’ breast. One of the three in the inner circle. He had an intimate relationship with the Lord.
The Secret Place is the place where we get the strength for our everyday life. There’s many in the body of Christ that are just missing the basics…spending time with God. I want to tell you where the “Secret Place” is.
Mt. 6:6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door, and pray to your Father in secret. And your Father who sees everything that is done in secret will reward you.
Prayer groups are great and I attend them, but our Father longs to be alone with us and to have one on one fellowship with us in His word and in His presence.
Time with God is never wasted time, but will benefit you throughout your entire day. He is our power source and without HIM, we are powerless. With an intimate relationship with God, we can overcome the impossible that tries to defeat us in our lives.
We live in a fallen world, and sickness tries to come to all of us, but when you’ve spent time in the secret place and sickness comes knocking.. you can resist it in Jesus name and stand on the word that by His stripes you are healed.
I’ve had attacks physically, but because I took the time to get the word in me God gave me the grace and strength to stand on His word and watch the symptoms go in Jesus name.
We come out of that place with a fresh anointing and an “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” attitude towards life. We need to ask God daily to set us on fire, to give us a fresh passion for Him. You can be anointed to drive, anointed to clean. The anointing is for everything. Intimacy with God is the greatest asset we as children of God have.
My mom was still living at 97 and even though she didn’t really have any friends except family. Carolyn my oldest sister was really the only one physically in contact with her…. Yet she always seemed content when I would call her. She would tell me she prayed in the Spirit every day and she would share something that God showed her in the Word. She had found the secret place and because of her intimate relationship with the Lord she lived content until she passed away. If you are not fellowshipping with God daily, your life is empty. Our one on one time with God should be our highest priority daily.
I Cor. 1:9 God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. Fellowshipping with God makes you sweeter for your husband and your family.
Fellowshipping with God softens our hearts when bitterness and unforgiveness comes and gives us the grace to overcome and forgive and walk in victory.
I want to encourage you to renew your commitment to fellowship with God. Spend time in praise and worship, in intercession for your family, for the church, for this end time harvest. Jesus is coming soon and He needs all of us to be intimately connected to Him to be effective in these last days. To overcome the impossible we need to be intimately connected to the God of the impossible. If you do have daily intimacy with God I encourage you to spend more time with HIM. Fall in Love with Jesus once again
Jer. 29:13 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.
Father, I pray for each and every person who took time to read this devotion. I ask you to give them grace and a fresh passion for you and your word. I ask that they would begin to spend time daily in the secret place of your presence in Jesus name so we may live as overcomers giving glory to God.
